fraternity

I will be starting A&M in the fall and am trying to decide if I should rush and if so when. I am leaning towards rushing my sophomore year to make sure my grades are where I want them to be. I am concerned that pledgeship will affect my grades first semester. Any thoughts?

Also, I am pretty sure I will be living in Hullabaloo....will I be able to meet some guys in fraternities living there to see where I might best fit or is there something else I should do this spring/summer?

Just google TAMU IFC, pull up the list of fraternities active on campus. Get on those individual fraternity websites to get in contact with the rush chairs, and ask about summer/fall rush for fall 2016.

A lot of fraternities do summer rush events, but they aren't absolutely necessary to attend. Show up to convocation, Rush and see what happens. You can always rush to meet guys, get some contacts and then decide to join a fraternity somewhere down the line.

Gigem, and God Bless.

Largely depends on the fraternity that you join.

Some will make you stay up all night cleaning the house and doing sober rides, make you stay at a house, etc. That can take a lot of time, especially because you always have to be "on call."

Some fraternities barely have a pledgeship at all.

Most fraternity guys will live in either Callaway Villas or House or at The Cottages. I'm a girl living in Hullaballoo and there are a lot of sorority girls living here. Not as many guys, but there are definitely a few. The dorms are a lot nicer than Callaway and it's in a good location too. I would recommend it to anybody.

Best part about Hullaballoo? No Blinn people.

Will it be a problem to join a fraternity my sophomore year if I decide to do that option?

Which fraternities have the pledgeships that will be hard on the GPA?

Thanks so much for the information.
