are tri-delta and kappa very selective?

by:

I have a very strong connection to their philanthropy and they seem like nice girls. I was just wondering how selective of a house it is?

both are considered top houses and are therefore very selective. But dont be worried, rush and see what you get! if youre a right fit for the house youll get a bid.

this is Texas A&M, not SMU/Bama, etc. Yes, have letters of rec and all but we are pretty new at this (greek thing) and you will get a bid if you are a decent person!

going through rush, i had decent recs for both of these houses, had great hs grades and test scores, strong extracurriculars, and am at least passably attractive and social. and i got cut by both of these houses first round. they definitely zip code/connection check, with some exceptions of course.

You have what every girl going through at A&M has...all great students and leaders at their high schools.

If you actually care about their philanthropy, don't go kappa. They don't care about it at all, like they all joke about not caring and none of them ever go to Nehemiah because they'd rather take the fine. It's sad. Kappa is going down hill fast. Pi phi does a lot of work w literacy if you're into that, they actually care.

^^Butt hurt Pi Phi

There is actually at least 5 kappas at nehemiah every day of the week so there's that. Also kappas don't fine at all so you have no idea what tf ur talking about. I'm sorry that you're a pi phi that must rlly suck

That's pretty harsh and just not accurate at all. All of the sororities at A&M are very philanthropy-focused, including KKG. Kappa is one of the few chapters at TAMU that volunteer at their philanthropy each week. They put on great philanthropy fundraising events that have paid for the director's salary, new books, and a new playground for the center.

Kappa doesn't fine, but they do volunteer daily at Nehemiah, just hosted a Reading Is Key Event at Nehemiah, and donated over $50,000 to the center. They keep the after school center open for low income children.

My suitemate is in one of those sororities and she only knew one active member who was a junior when she rushed. So while I would say that connections are always important, they aren't as necessary as other schools with more Greek "tradition." What's more important is how well your personality matches, which I think A&M sororities are great at having a little something for everyone.

Like I mentioned earlier, my suitemate only knew one girl, but she was captain of her school sports team and debate team, she's pretty, she has great test scores and volunteer work, and even though her parents are both accountants, she never went to camp or private school or lived in Memorial, West U, Highland Park, etc.

Do your best to get make a connection with someone in the house. Be it friend of a friend or some girl you met a long time ago. Connections mean more than anything else because every girl going through Rush has an awesome resume or they wouldn't have gotten into a&m. But honestly, Tridelt is a much better sorority than kappa. So I'd look at Tridelt more of those are the only two you're interested in. But, keep an open mind!!

You need connections for both, both are selective, both pledge lots of legacies
