There are five major top tier sororities and fraternities at A&M. The exact order is highly disputed but being in any of these houses means experiencing the best that greek life here has to offer. These are:
Kappa, TriDelt, Zeta, DG, and XO
Fiji, KA, SAE, SigEp, and Beta
Then there are 3 solid middle tier sororities and fraternities that aren't quite as popular selective or prestigious but still strong and definitely a solid greek experience to be a part of. These are:
PiPhi, AXO, and Theta
Delt, Sigma Chi, and Pike
After that, there is a significant drop off. However, that doesn't mean the other houses are bad, you'll still have a good time if you like/fit in with the people in your chapter and can make some really good friends

And Beta? Bidding a bunch of nerdy rich kids who pretend they're cowboys doesn't qualify as top tier quality members. Ya'll don't even have a house, your parties suck, and your total following consists of maybe 20 Kappas. Plus, Beta has no social presence. How often do you see a girl in a beta shirt on campus? Never

coming from a girl in the "top 5", delt is not considered top and no girls in my sorority hang out with them. we'd hang out with sigma chi over delt any day and a huge group (not kappa, like another comment says) of us hang out with them. also-- beta does not have guys who actually think they are cowboys..some of them joke about it as a tradition but a lot of them are from houston and have probably never ridden a horse nor have any desire to..

I love it how every time there's a discussion involving fraternities Delt and Beta get in an argument about which one of them deserves to squeeze into the very bottom of top tier

Delt would win hands down. They all have plenty of practice fighting their own brothers on Northgate

Zeta is top here and at UT and TCU. DG is top here and upper tier at most schools. You bitter girls need to shut up and get over yourselves

And where does the 10% come from? This isn't a high school transcript it's a ranking of student organizations.
Also, not that we care about UT. But they have pretty much the model greek life in the state, and their top tier is 6 sororities and 5 fraternities. Not 10%

Sigma Chi has never been known for taking good pledge classes. They take everyone's scraps and they know this. The thing is, the formula kind of works. They get so much money mass bidding everyone that they can afford to throw bigger parties and events. It'll never put them in the top tier, but it keeps them relevant enough to hold onto mid

They keep writing on here that they are top. They are good..... but no better than Chi O, Pi Phi, or Theta.

Pike had a good year recruitment wise and at this point easily competes with Delt and Sigma Chi

Pike actually did have a pretty good year, but one good year just isn't enough to launch you into the middle tier imo. They may not be the best but Delt and Sigma Chi have both been solid middle tier fraternities at A&M for 20-30 years. On the other hand Pike has only been relevant the past year or two. Before then most people put them below even Sigma Nu and Kappa Sig, more on PiKap or SAMs level, or didn't even know who they were

Pike is not mid tier. They definitely head the lower tier but they are not on the same level as Beta Delt or Sigma Chi

As a girl, I have to say Pike is definitely not middle tier. They're getting more popular and have started hanging out with better sororities, but they're still considered pretty low on the totem pole.
