Hope it's NOT Alpha Phi. They are in the college in my hometown and I'm very aware of their national rep which is not good. Everywhere they are recognized as a shallow house who recruits for looks only. Then they start self-promotions.

I am so sure you all have just LOADS of experience with Alpha Phi, lol. They are at tons of great schools and have the strongest national rep of all three. They also have successful chapters in Texas and are huge nationwide. Their only weak area is the deep south and they are building that. I am an APhi legacy through my mom, aunt and grandmother. My sister is an APhi at Texas. It almost killed them when I went to a school without a chapter. I would certainly welcome and support them and I hope our entire Greek community was as well. The same is true of any chapter that comes here. I would wish them all the very best because it will only make our system better and stronger to have even more great sororities.

Why do you think the community here isn't strong enough to handle another chapter? Total is high and has grown significantly over the last few years.

Not to be offensive, but if you were a student here, you'd know that we have not been "12 strong" for very long. Only as recently as last year, a couple of sororities did not reach quota during FR. Even this year one sorority had to COB aggressively. Though it's true total is rising, the quota this year did not change from last year's. It would be risky to introduce a new chapter when we're not sure if the trend will be stable, fall, or rise.
I would prefer the current sororities strengthen themselves rather than invite a new one on campus and run the risk of closing a few years later. This isn't Alabama or Ole Miss where PCs are rising by dozens every year and all sororities reach quota.

The decision to expand has already been voted on and made. Now it's down to who will be invited to present out of all who applied, then who out of those will be selected.

So if the 1050 or so PNMs were split amongst 13 houses instead of 12 houses, each house would have a PC that is only roughly 7 less girls than before (81 vs 88). If the point is to make PCs not so large, that won't work. Going back to the days of 50 girls per PC is not going to happen until the next financial crash. We have seen parts of the drop in global oil prices in the # of PNMs signed up for rush. Our house expected a much larger PC but we were surprised that no growth happened.

We need all houses to reach quota before adding a new sorority because we then run the risk of a bottom house closing (and we'll be back where we started). You'll see PNMs preffing the new house over a house with a "bad" reputation, which sucks because some houses have made such huge strides over the last few years. Also, how are some sororities like KD and DG allowed to pledge 100 girls when quota is not that high?

False. No one has been chosen yet. A&M literally just opened. The deadline for interest packets hasn't even passed. Don't spread rumors when you clearly don't know how expansion works.

chapters that have already been here before will get the opportunity to present first, then it would open up to any other sorority to present. I highly doubt any of those would want to come back with the current environment at A&M

That's not true. They COULD be given preference if they choose to submit interest packets. However, since there are no signed agreements from when they left, they don't automatically get to present first.

The only thing I'll say about that is that all three of those chapters closed before RFM (release figure methodology). A lot of groups had closed chapters during that time because the system was different then. So, they could come back and be successful now.
