So I've written several rec letters for recruitment this year. I heard about this site. Here's my rush story and my thoughts for any pnm who cares. I went through rush back in the 90's. Back then, if a house didn't want you, you never even went in to their house. On Day 1, I didn't even meet any Tri Delts, Chi Os, Pi Phis or Thetas. It hurt my feelings, I'll be honest. My first house was AXO. I remember their chanting and felt so out of place. It was funny, because later in the week, they were a favorite. My last house was Delta Zeta. I immediately liked them, though I'd heard the nickname Easy DZ from my brother and his buddies in the Corps. So I kept my opinion to myself. As Rush went on, I was left with AXO, DG and DZ. I really liked all three. When I went to get my Pref list, I had DG and DZ. I was sad that AXO cut me, but I kind of knew I didn't totally fit in. I felt great with DG and DZ. I went into pref VERY torn. My first party was with DG. My brother's gf was a DG as well as a few other girls he knew. One of his friends was matched with me. By the end, I really thought I would go DG. Then I went to the DZ house. I knew the minute I was matched with a junior named Tiffany. As I sat there, I looked at all the other rushees and thought about who I would pledge with. I went to Rudder to sign my pref card. I preffed DZ. I'm still close with my sisters. Be yourself and go with your gut.

Love it and thanks for sharing. I'm open minded and a legacy myself (GPB) and just trying to enjoy it!

Good!! I'm glad it helps! Just enjoy yourself. It's hard not to get on Greek Rank or listen to tent talk. But that's not real life. I think you have a great idea of where you really fit pretty early on. Not where you think you could "make" yourself fit. And all that tier junk changes. Those same houses that cut me before meeting me may not be as strong as they once were. But it was all meant to be. I can't imagine not being a DZ.
