do's and don'ts of rush conversation?

by: Pnm

Hey!

Just wondering what all should/shouldn't be talked about during recruitment. Obviously anything to do with drinking or boys is probably a big "no", but are there less obvious things I should avoid mentioning when I am talking to the girls? What are casual topics that are acceptable?

Also is it true I should avoid mentioning my church mission trips that I take? It's a big part of my summer/school year but a friend told me to never bring up religious topics so I'm not sure.

Thank you so much!

if religion/church is an important part of who you are, and it comes up naturally, don't avoid it. these women are possibly your future sisters, they should know the real you instead of a fake front, so you can actually end up in the house that's right for you.

however; be respectful about your views, as well.

It's perfectly fine to talk about your mission trips, especially if it's a big part of your life. Sororities are looking for well rounded girls with activities like that on their resume. Just be yourself and talk about your favorite things. The last thing you want to do is avoid topics that are important to you and then end up in a house where girls do not value the same things you do because you never talked about them during recruitment.

If you're going to talk about mission trips, first talk about the travel aspect of it, like what it was like to be in a different culture, speaking different language, food, etc. if your rusher wants to ask you about the religious aspect of it, let her be the first to take the dialogue in that route. I know you want to mention your mission trip in earnest, but a LOT of PNMs will get braggy or be a bit too try-hard trying to come across as another Theresa and looks fake. Don't go the route of how you were "saving the little dark children." No one wants to hear that.
