why does tamu have a dz chapter?
by: CuriousI have always wondered with TAMU's high academics, AAU accredited - why it allowed DZ to colonize at A&M. DZ does not have chapters at most Div 1 schools in Texas and the Big 12. No chapter at Texas, Tech, Baylor, SMU, TCU. If you look at the top 60 universities in the US (TAMU is one of them) DZ has minimal chapters.

Let's jump back in our time machine and ask. Let's see... it was the 70's would you want to colonize at this 90% all male university? Who knows why anyone did anything back then but I'm sure sorority colonization was a lot different and TAMU looked a lot different too.

Delta Zeta is one of the largest national sororities. Although you may not respect Delta Zeta, most people do. DZ does not have chapters at many big 12 schools, but luckily we are not in the big 12, we are in the SEC. DZ does have very well respected chapters at many SEC schools. You may not think that DZ should be at A&M, but try telling that to the current members, both at A&M and nationally, as well as all of the alumni. So many people would be heartbroken because they love Delta Zeta. So please stop tearing down an entire sorority because you are so close-minded and can't see the true value that Delta Zeta brings to so many lives and to this university as well

Most all of them came uninvited by the university....they were not officially recognized until around 1990.....
