should i be worried?
by: PNMI've heard that Chi O typically contacts girls they like over the summer... I know this is against the rules, but if I haven't heard from them by now, does this mean they're not interested?

All I can say is don't get your heart set on ChiO unless you meet any of these criteria (and even then, they're still likely to cut you and break your heart....it's what ChiO is known for all across the South & Texas):
1. Know at least 5-10 chapter members who all adore you (from high school, camp, etc)
2. You are a big time legacy (sitting sister, highly involved alumna mom)
3. Your rec was written by someone who has major pull at the A&M chapter

Why are you so set on Chi-O? You haven't gone through recruitment yet. The quickest way to get cut is to act uninterested in other sororities. Trust me, it shows and we can tell when a PNM would rather be somewhere else. Then if you are actually cut by Chi-O, you won't be very high on anyone else's list.

If you were savvy, you'd realize you aren't on ChiO's bid list and nothing you can do in the 20 minutes you will be in their house will get you added to their list. Knowing this, it would be smart to cut ChiO (rank them as a number other than 1) after round 1. They make huge cuts after philanthropy so why waste your time when you could be getting to know a house that actually does want you?

I had the typical dirty rush experience with Chi O. They gave me false hopes prior and during rush. Fortunately for me they cut me even though I was devastated. I was a big legacy and just felt in my heart this was the place for me. I had great family support who encouraged me to stick with it and I found a GREAT HOUSE! They are not considered top tier on Greet Rank (so don't pay much attention to this ranking) but respected in the community and I didn't look back. Too bad for Chi O they lost local support from Chi O alums who after hearing me experience - and they lost the financial generosity of my family. But someone's loss is another ones gain! Lol! So my advice if you have not heard from them you are not on their radar. But don't worry you have lots of great houses - who offer great sisterhood!!! Good luck and chin up.

Chi o can get away with this bc Panhellenic turns a blind eye and won't punish them like they should. PNMs can report chi o for dirty rushing year after year and yet chi o is never fined or placed on probation. The girls running Panhellenic just want everything to go smoothly so they sweep incidents that are terrible quietly under the rug.

You'll figure it out real quick - don't worry about them - you will see there are lots of other choices! Besides their house is a dump. So this should tell you they don't have much alum support. Overall so-so rely on their national rep!
