rush
by: futureaggieHey y'all! I'm going to be a freshman at A&M this Fall and plan on rushing. I am from Ohio so I am a complete stranger. I do not know anyone in greek life down here so I am worried about getting good recs. I was wondering how all of this would affect rush and what type of sorority I would possibly be accepted to.

First of all, welcome to Texas A&M!!! You made a great choice, and I am so excited you're now a part of the Aggie family! I hope you signed up for fish camp, because that is a great way to meet people before school starts so you don't feel so out of place! Registration closes July 3rd at 5 pm!
Second of all,
As long as you have rec letters for houses, it shouldn't matter what region those rec letters are from. Most houses just need the rec letters in general! However, some houses cannot offer you a bid unless you have a rec, so I highly suggest getting some. I know plenty of girls from out of state who went greek, so don't worry about that! Just get those rec letters, be yourself, and don't forget to smile!

The other poster is correct- the important thing is that you get a rec lined up for every house. They do NOT need to be from an A&M alumna of the house. The best recs are from people who know you well & love you (family members, teachers, friends' mothers or sisters, etc). Work hard to get a rec for each house as you can be cut for not having one - when each house is whittling down from 1500 girls to 90 (or whatever quota is), recs and grades are the two easiest things to cut for.
A good number of our of state girls rush each year. My house has several. You'll be fine!
