fish camp
by: PNMI heard from other girls that I met who are also planning on rushing this fall that a lot of the Fish Camp counsels are in sororities and are observing the campers to see how they behave, if they've got good social skills, etc. I know a few of my rec writers have submitted theirs so I would assume if my counselor was in a sorority she could theoretically recognize my name from her list of campers and keep watch, but that seems so nerve wracking. Also, will counselors disaffiliated during the summer even if they're not Rho Chis?

Not a fc counselor but from what I remember all counsellors are disaffiliated for that week anyway. They probably watch but I don't really know. Every girl in my cabin went greek, honestly you're so tired and stuff that you most likely won't do anything that'll get you major trouble (ie booze, boys, ect.)

As a fish camp counselor last year and a counselor for this upcoming year, I personally don't think of girls in my camp as "PNMs," I think of them as girls in my camp. It is not fair as a counselor to be judging girls while they are at fish camp to see if they will fit into your house. With that being said, please don't judge houses while you are at camp! Counselors are not allowed to discuss what organizations they are in while at camp because we want the freshmen to feel comfortable around us, and not worry about our outside activities-as fish camp is all about YOU, the freshmen! SO, make sure that you don't make a comment about a specific house, as your counselor could be from that house. However, other than that please don't worry about being watched while at camp!!! Fish camp is all about becoming a part of the Aggie family and feeling comfortable and at home. CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU CLASS OF 2019!!!

All except for Rush week and the week prior to rush (work week for chapters).
Counsleors definitely do come back from Fish Camp with "Rush crushes" so be friendly & outgoing to everyone you meet at Fish Camp. For that matter, realize that you're being watched / need to be "on" all summer. You never know when you may encounter an A&M Greek woman, whether in your hometown or at orientation, Fish Camp, move-in, etc.
