packets
by: PNM 2015I saw someone post something about how if our packets weren't in by the end of school, then we're late. Is this true?? Some of mine have been mailed, but the earliest deadline I saw was July 31st, so I told my recommenders that there wasn't a rush to get them done...

You should be fine, don't worry. It's more of a courtesy to let rec writers know as soon as possible that you're interested so they have enough time to look over everything. Some of my writers had 15-20 girls to write recs for and had young kids to look after and a job, and she liked to meet PNMs in person so getting in contact with her mid-April was a way to schedule all 20 of us throughout the weekends in the summer.
An advantage of getting your rec in early is so houses get a longer look at you, whereas if you're one of the 100 recs per day that we get in later in the summer, it's much easier for you to slip through the cracks, especially if you're not a legacy or don't have connections.
