brotherhood in fraternities
by: RusheeSo I see on this site all the arguments about who throws better parties, is more popular with girls, etc. But I don't really care about that, I know I can meet girls and have a good time at parties without much help. I'm coming from out of state, so what I'm really looking for is a fraternity that has a close-knit feel and strong brotherhood. Any advice on which ones are better in that area?

I'm a girl so I probably don't have too much of a say in this, but just my two cents, the smaller, lower tier frats seem to have a better brotherhood concept then the big top tier ones. SAE Sigep and KA are the only big-name frats in which I've seen decent brotherhood, and even then it still seems like the guys are always trying to one-up each other. Fiji and Beta are just too cliquey, go to any of their stuff and you'll pretty much immediately see them group up according to high school. And in my experience Sigma Chi Delt and Pike have awful brotherhoods...they barely get along. every time I go to something with them they bad mouth each other or someone tries to start a fight or hits on another guy's girlfriend. If you really don't care that much about the other stuff I would truthfully recommend checking out ATO or DKE

I agree with most of what the person above said, except I think sigma chi has a great brotherhood. I have a lot of friends in sigma chi and they all seem to truley put their brotherhood above all else. As far as pike goes, I don't know much about them but I've heard a lot of girls in my sorority talk about how sweet and fun they are, so I can't imagine they have an "awful" brotherhood as the person above described. I think most middle tier frats have a solid brotherhood

Pike doesn't have awful guys they just have a bad brotherhood. They focus too much on numbers so a lot of the guys don't even know each other. And when people don't know each other they don't respect each other

Idk. I don't really associate with the Sigma Chi's but you at least still see them around campus and in class hanging out in groups just like the KAs Sigeps or SAEs would. Now Delt and Pike, you'll have five of them in the same room and they won't even acknowledge each other
