rush 2015

by:

This fall I will be a freshman starting at Blinn Team. I'm really thinking of rushing, but I was wondering if it would be better for me to rush in the fall or wait until spring so I could build a good rep/become involved with TAMU more. I have a great high school GPA and I was pretty involved throughout HS. Thanks in advance!

You can wait till spring but not many sororities openly talk about having spring rush. All take some girls, they just don't talk about it. It would be easier for you to rush in the fall. If you already have a great GPA and were involved you shouldn't have much to worry about! Good luck!

All do not take some girls during spring rush....I can tell you right now my house doesn't and two friends in other houses don't. Only like 4-5 houses do, don't give her false hope.

Hey! Rush in the fall for sure!!! Almost all houses take Blinn team girls, and it'll give you the opportunity to get to know every house...not just the few who do spring rush because not every house does spring rush!

Blinn Team is basically A&M's way of admitting more students even after the Freshman class is "full"

I think the program you're thinking of is Gateway. Blinn TEAM is for those who have iffy high school records. To Op, try getting a 4.0 on your Blinn classes and TAMU class and maybe try rushing again Fall of your Sophmore year.

Some high schools are extremely competitive in which you have to have around a 4.1 to be in the top 10%

There is a way around that. If you are in the top quarter and you have a certain SAT or ACT score then you are automatically admitted. Also, if your HS is in Texas, the office of admissions will almost certainly know of your school's level of rigorousness and take that into account. I was 63/177 with a 1440 SAT (Math + CR) and got in directly to TAMU from an "academically rigorous high school."

There's no way the office of admissions can know every single high school's rigor level. They only do the best they can from what they do know....

I'm not "Actually," but what he/said is true. My high school is also pretty rigorous, so when a TAMU recruiter came to talk to the senior class we asked her about it and she said that yes, admissions assigns someone familiar with the region/city's schools to take a look during holistic review process. This is similar to what sororities actually do when reviewing resumes. We'll weigh GPAs accordingly depending on the HS.

Yes, rush the fall. Even if there are only one or two houses that don't take Blinn team girls, you will increase your chances because fewer houses take spring girls at all. Besides, if you don't get in during fall, you can try again in spring. Fall rush is a great way to meet people, and you'll love meeting all the houses.
