Miami University has suspended a sorority for one year after members were described as drinking heavily, behaving crudely and destroying property during the sorority?s spring formal at Lake Lyndsay Lodge in Butler County.




Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women announced on its Web site that Miami suspended its Ohio Zeta chapter shortly after an administrative hearing was held April 30. Pi Beta Phi said it also placed its Miami chapter on probation.

The suspension means the sorority loses its campus dorm suite, can?t recruit new members and can?t participate as a group in campus activities, Miami spokeswoman Claire Wagner said.

There was no answer Tuesday at an Oxford, Ohio, telephone listing for the chapter and the student listed on Miami?s Web site as the chapter president did not return a call to her cell phone.

I do think its strange that zeta has had to close chapters at strong academic universities with strong greek systems.

I have a good friend in the Miami greek system and a lot of the chapter there have problems. Tri-delt was kicked off campus for a year and they are just coming back and Pi Phi and AXDi are being kicked off for a year along with Zeta on probation for a year. Don't just think its Zeta with all of the problems.

it's a shame about pi beta phi, but this board is about texas a&m, not miami university.
