do mothers come to bid day at tamu? I had a niece at another southern SEC school and it was a huge family affair.

Some do attend, I'd say most do not attend. It is a matter of opening envelopes & then heading to your new houses by buses. Parents do not go to the houses, so it would only be a moment that you would see your daughter before they leave for the rest of the day/evening. My mom did not attend and I'm a legacy. Of course, you don't know which house from pref. night you will get. It is a very special day, but most of the celebrating is done with her new sisters.

I agree...we get SOME parents, but the majority don't attend. Of course, if you come, you won't be shooed away. You'll more than likely hang out with alumnae for a bit and leave after dinner.

I'll be in town for the Aggie Moms meeting so it's not like an extra trip but I imagine I will keep my distance. Thank you

Gotta let go! Let your daughter focus on making new friends and not worry about you:) I don't mean that to sound mean, it's just I am sure it would put her in a difficult situation when she needs to simply fit in and start her own life.

You don't know what the custom is at another school. In the South on lots of campuses, the houses welcome parents after bids are given out, and even host brunch or lunch, plus house tours. Parents aren't intruding or helicoptering - they are invited, and it's the girls whose families don't show up that are the minority.

Just saying, don't imply that the OP is being intrusive just for asking. Y'all are in the SEC now, and people are going to reasonably wonder if you have SEC traditions.
