Drop and $ question

by:

I’m considering dropping and I have questions but don’t want to ask anyone in my sorority until I decide.

What happens financially if I were to drop today? Would I still be liable for the remainder of the balance or would it be dropped as well?

I honestly don’t even know how to drop, is it as simple as stopping payments or is there a process?

Is there a policy about returning items/clothing that have letters?

Thanks, I should probably know the answer to this but I know nothing about sororities, I really wanted to try and my experience has been not great. Basically just showing up for chapter and required events, no Big interaction or outreach, I just feel a little lost and I don’t think this is for me. I’m also really sad to see so much hate and tearing down of each other on here. I guess I was just naive.

My big dropped this semester and I don’t know about the finance stuff. It’s pretty discrete just talk to your memebership chair. Some I don’t know if all don’t allow you to wear any clothing or letters after that but just give it to a friend or another girl.

It sounds like you recently joined though so if you’re like a COB girl I highly encourage you to stick it out through the semester and go to more because you will meet friends. I felt exactly like you did but I had a great friend group formed by the end of the semester. Be outgoing. Also getting a big is super involved and fun!
If you were the 24 class, I understand, but do know I met my best friends through recruitment and most girls I know really started to bond in their chapter through work week and recruitment. Just a thought.

- If you drop today you are still responsible for the remainder of your balance for this semester.
- If you want to drop you must contact your membership chair and president.
- Once you drop you should not wear your sorority merch and you may be required to turn in your pin.
- Do not make an important decision based on Greekrank, for god's sake girl! Are you going to let internet strangers posting on a disgusting anonymous gossip site, where anyone in the world can and does comment, inform your life decisions? This site does NOT represent Greek or college life. It is a business site registered in Florida and run out of Chicago. It was founded 20 years ago by an Indian guy who went to Virginia Tech. It makes its money from ads and the more controversy and hate on here means more clicks and more ad revenue for the owners. GREEKRANK IS NOT REAL LIFE.
- Your Big is no big deal. It's just one girl who you may or may not click with but it's just tradition to have/be assigned one. Don't read anything into not having interaction with this person.
- Many new members feel this way and don't really feel like they belong until they have gone through rush on the 'other side' as a sister; that's where the real bonding happens. Do yourself a favor and wait until next fall and see how you feel. You will never get this chance back again.

Thank you for all the info, that was really helpful!

Greekrank doesn’t have anything to do with it, I’ve never been on here until I made the post. I just mean it makes me sad in general to see so much negativity between each other. We’re Aggies above anything else, at least in my opinion.

I’m still thinking about what to do, appreciate your feedback!
