What are the options?

by:

Howdy! Finished sisterhood and I have come down to two houses, 1 I love and the other just doesn’t feel right for Me and can’t see being content and probably won’t accept a bid from. This being said, what would be the best course of action assuming they both come back for pref (i know it’s not sure but in case) Single pref? Drop and try COB? Thank you for any advice!

So talk to your Rho Gam, but if you get both back for pref, go to both, rank the one you want the highest. If you get your other option, you can always drop and stay eligible for COB.

What about single ranking? Does it work at all?

Single ranking would be a “suicide bid” the chapter would be forced to drop you. Rank both. Go to both for pref if you’re invited. Tell the house you want how much you LOVE them and that you’re ranking them first. Don’t be rude but you can be super quiet to the second option. If you happen to get them for bid day and truly don’t want it you can drop and hope for spring rush.

Yeah I’m on the fence. Why would the house be forced to drop you if you still ranked them for single pref? I just don’t want to sign MRABA and then be unable to rush till next year.

You cannot sign your card and get a bid and drop and then get a COB in spring. The binding agreement is for one full year, so no bid until the following fall recruitment. You have to make your decision when you sign your card and take your chances - accept a bid from either one or only put down one of them. If you get the house you don't want, you might as well try because you aren't eligible for another bid for the rest of the year, and if you really don't like it you can drop before initiation and try again next year. Or if you suicide and end up without a bid at all you can try for a COB.

Okay, here's how it ACTUALLY works for you:
1) If you are invited to only one pref and you attend and put that house on your card, you are guaranteed that bid. Congrats, you can rest easy.
2) If you get back two houses and are sure you only want a bid from one of them, then SIP (suicide) by only listing that one house on your MRABA card. You need to accept that you might not match with them, so that would mean no bid at all. In that case, you are eligible for a COB.

FYI - The MRABA states: "I am willing to accept an invitation to membership (“bid”) from any sorority I list", so you are only bound to who you list, and if you don't get that bid from them then there is no more agreement. You are free to try to get a COB.

Don't drop. Give your houses a chance!

I want to, but that would also mean eliminating COB as an option and I don’t see myself being happy there.
