Women’s organization
by: QuestionI’m a senior going to a&m next year and am considering rushing. I’ve seen so many girls going to orgs (aggie belles, sweethearts, blossoms, etc) what are those and what’s the difference between them and real houses? Are they just for girls who can’t get into actual houses or are they legit? I just don’t understand.

Women's orgs are very similar to sororities in the way that they are structured on the outside.
They hold mixers and events (sometimes with frats), have a philanthropy that they serve, and have weekly meetings. I would say that being in a sorority is #1, a lot more money, and #2 a lot more intimate. There are traditions, rituals, and obviously access to a huge house that you wouldn't get from a womens org. This may just be sorority bias but I also feel that the friendships and sisterhood you foster within the houses are a lot more real. The philanthropies that the women's orgs choose are also more local to the BCS area. Another thing you just cannot replicate from a sorority to a Womens Org is the national network you access as a good standing sorority member. I've made some amazing friends in other chapters in schools like TU & LSU simply because we share the same letters.
I wouldn't say that women's orgs are ONLY for girls who can't get into houses, because I have many friends on the row who are active members of both a womens org and their sorority and they absolutely love it! JUST BE AWARE.. if you do choose to go greek and possibly want to try out for a womens org as well, there are quite a few girls in women's orgs who do have a negative perspective on greek life. Idk whether it's the typical negative sorority stereotypes, or the costs that come with being in a sorority or what, but during this years womens org recruitment, I talked to one girl who went on and on bashing sororities to uplift her org.. until I told her that I was an active and happy member in mine... shoutout Aggie Arrows lol.
I would say definitely rush! The best thing you can do for yourself is rush in the fall and find a home that suits you after getting a good look at each house. I did spring rush so I don't know where I would have truly ended up if I was given access to each house, but I love the home I’m at now! Also, during your first week at TAMU, they host MSC open house which many women's orgs attend to meet potential new members. Go to that as well! If you find your home in a sorority, that's great! If you click with a womens org, that's great too! There’s so many opportunities to meet some amazing women in these groups and I hope you find somewhere you're interested in!
