It Really Is Okay!!

There are many of you getting your list back for sisterhood and the cuts were deep. Many of you are going to the houses from the bottom of your list. Here is what I will tell you:
I’ve been there. I’m old y’all and I am getting all kinds of messages from moms whose daughters are crying with hurt and rejection. These girls have been on Greek rank, listening to tent talk and now have woken up and been shocked to see their “favorites” no longer on their list.
If that is you then listen up. The SAME thing happened to me. By Pref night I was left with a brand new sorority on campus (Delta Gamma) and a mid level house with a pretty bad reputation. I was going through as a first time sorority girl with zero connections and zero rec letters. I went to Pref and realized that both houses had girls I could see myself with and after I ran to my first choice house (not Delta Gamma), I embraced it with everything!
All these years later, both Delta Gamma and my house are amongst the “desired” chapters. I’m not even sure if the college me going through recruitment NOW would even be matched with them. Instead, I have a feeling I’d be like many of you with a newer house and a “less desired” house and I can tell you, I’d go with it!
Had I not embraced who wanted me back, I would have never found my sisters. The ones from my wedding, their own weddings, jobs, divorces, children, loss of parents and even the loss of children.
Yeah, I’ll get some crappy responses about get off GR you old crazy lady. But if this helps ANY of the girls sitting in shock, then that’s fine because I WISH I would have had an older woman telling me to just go with it, to trust that it will be okay.
Every year, as an alumna who writes rec letters, I see and hear the same thing over and over. Please give the houses a chance. The two houses I had would not be where they are now if not for the women who embraced them. Pan Love!
