Former Bottom House Member

by:

I say this to all PNMs who have a notion of what Greek life is from their family. You better be sure you like your house before you accept that bid. Otherwise, you are stuck paying dues to headquarters even if you drop. The amount of money it takes is absurd. It is more justified for one of the top houses that have way more events and more mixers/ socials; talk to any Zeta or DG and they will have a totally different more positive experience than I did. However, for a new house that no good fraternity wants to associate with, you will be massively disappointed. All the dues for this "bottom house" (you AbsOlutely can and wIll guess) go towards recruiting new girls (with videos and rush expenses) and paying off their expensive house that doesn't even have a chapter room. YOu don't get any benefits as a member that girls they are trying to COB don't get. The friendships are all fake and not worth it. The events are not fun. I "tried it out" and I am so sorry that I did. I wish I had my mom and sister's experience with Greek Life that I heard so many good things about. All their wedding party was their sorority sisters. All I got left with is my good friend that I regret I convinced to join and t-shirts that I have to give away because no one will buy them. I know other girls in Greek Life love their chapter and I hope you do too. But just choose wisely otherwise the money and heartache is not worth it. I am too worried to actually name my old house as I fear they will fine me for the fee to take it down.

This is also good advice re: Kappa. The probation has been going on for over 2 years and it has affected their chapter in a lot of negative ways. PNMs deserve the full, awesome experience of Greek life not going into someplace where they will be made to feel responsible for sins of the past
