I'm going through recruitment in the fall, but I know I don't ever want to live in the houses. Can you just pay more to not have to live there or do they force you to?

You don't have to live in the house. But, it has honestly been the best part of my college career. I don't know how other chapters work, but mine has 'in-house' and 'out-of-house' dues. Obviously the ones pay a little more 'in-house' because they get more meals/utilities/security/etc etc. You don't HAVE to live in the house, but I know some chapters have issues filling the house, and they will 'politely ask' people to live in the house.

Its actually really fun, and I would encourage you not to just cross it off until you actually meet your sisters :)!
