During sorority rush/recruitment, will a sophmore get picked over a junior, or are upperclassmen on the same playing field?

i was just told yesterday that each sorority has a certain number of both sophmores and juniors that they have to pick. i was hoping that that was correct. :-(
A sorority girl actually told me this......

lots of misinformation on here (it's full of lies on every topic- do NOT believe what you read on here). Get confirmation from Greek Life. The facts are YES there is an upperclassmen quota (for some history - it was started due to sophomores & juniors being unable to get into houses). YES they do have to take them, no they don't split out sophomores & juniors - the quota amount is joint. So, some houses will have no juniors if they find the full quota of sophomores BUT they can't give that bid to a freshman. If you want to increase your chances be sure to mention your 3 year academic plan, a legit question is can a 5 th year senior continue to be involved? verify what I said through Greek Life- it's a question that they will give an answer to over the phone.

No one has to use the upper class quota. You're full of bad information too!

They are right. At Texas A&M Panhellenic requires sororities to take some upperclassmen or else they would just pick all freshman.

there is a quota for upper classmen - every house HAS to comply. It's a national thing - wow way to be uninformed...

quota last year: 49 freshman 18 upperclassmen. IF your house did not take any upperclassmen you would only be allowed 49 bids for freshman.......but that didn't happen.

So will juniors basically be automatically cut even if we have the same amount of time left as sophomores? (3 years) and a 4.0?

By: junior

Juniors will never "automatically" get cut from all the sororities. But some will cut you just because you're a junior. Juniors are just overall less desirable during recruitment. However, nobody can speak for all the houses. You would just have to go through recruitment and see what happens. You still have a chance but you'd have to keep an open mind.
