tiers
by: RealisticCan we get over ourselves a little bit and admit that tiers for fraternities don't really exist? Sure, there are good and bad fraternities, but since IFC is relatively undeveloped and there is no formal rush where guys go to meet every single chapter then it is impossible for one fraternity to be head and shoulders above another if you just think about it logically. Sororities have tiers because they have a formal rush where the top sororities essentially get to handpick their members because they meet every single one. There will be cool guys in every house, and some guys that suck in every house. Once a fraternity row is established so everyone is pretty much side by side, and a true formal rush is put into place then we can start talking tiers (although it still won't accomplish anything). Greek Life at A&M is growing at an unprecedented rate, so stop stroking it to some ranking or putting others down. It is literally pure opinion, and it makes everyone that has ever walked the steps look dumb.

We also have to keep in mind that one of the main reasons that Texas A&M do not have a big Greek life is because of the Corps of cadets.
We have to consider that the Corps is the biggest "fraternity" and the top choice for many excellent gentlemen which can do very well in a fraternity. And in top of that, they are the hearth of A&M's traditions.
Another reason why the corps is partly responsible for our undeveloped Greek life is our own Fraternity row. Like many know, we only got two fraternities on this row (Sigma Chi and Sigma Nu) this is because a couple of years back, when the Greeks were barely being establish on A&M, an old Alumni (who was in the Corps) bought all the land around fraternity row, and constructed duplexes. He was really against fraternity at A&M, and now days many Cadets still have the same mentality.
I completely agree with you, but I also believe that now since we are in the SEC, we as the Aggie Greek community should unite for the common purpose of improving Texas A&M Greek life, and thereby improving each house in it.

Please don't compare fraternities to the corps nerds. They would gladly see greek life removed at tamu.
