Some houses had harder cuts than others?
by: PnmIt seems like some of the houses haven’t had many parties sisterhood round and I haven’t heard of very many girls with Tri delta or chi O left. Do some of the houses cut harder than others in the beginning?

The computer program is designed to help every house make quota so our Panhellenic system is strong. It uses historical return rates (% of PNM’s who want to come back the next round) to tell the chapters how many PNM’s they can invite back each round.
A chapter that is super popular might have to release 800 PNM’s after open house because historically 98% of PNM’s rank that house high, while another chapter might only be allowed to release 100 PNM’s because historically 50% of PNM’s rank the chapter high.
There are still big cuts before Pref for most houses because everyone invited to Pref must be on that chapter’s Bid List somewhere. Every girl at Pref could end up a sister so chapters REALLY spend time on the Pref invitation lists.

Here’s what Panhellenic doesn’t tell you…so before you feel depressed or rejected, don’t “trust” the process. Rush is not an opportunity to “shine” and show the top 6 that you’d be a great sister. If you don’t already know someone, you won’t get invited back. It’s nothing personal in most cases. You aren’t usually being rejected. It’s just that they already know who they want and who wants them. The ones who take back the fewest have most likely confirmed with the pnms where they want to end up and vice versa. No one tells you this secret side of rush. So, don’t take things personally. But also don’t trust the process, because you really aren’t rushing 6 of the sororities. They already know who they want and who wants them. That’s why their retention rates are statistically high. If you don’t like your options, you can always rush next year.

Okay, I thought so. So does that mean they also won’t cut as much for pref since they start out with less anyway?
