what's the real deal
by: ridiculousThere is so much hate and judgment on this site especially toward "lower tier" sororities. What is it really like at A&M?? Do people ("top tier" sororities as well as other students) at A&M really judge you based on what sorority or "tier" you belong to?

I'm glad you asked because it's a good question. First of all, this is college, not the movies and not high school. There is no such thing as a house full of "popular" girls. Also, the GR version of Greek life and real A&M Greek life are total opposites. I'm in the top GR ranked "top house" and we have a variety of girls just like all the other houses. To further dispel the myth created on this site, my best friends are my sorority. sisters, but I also have great friends in ADPi, AXO, DZ, XO, PiPHI, GPhi, KD, DG, and Theta. However, I will say that most of my friends at A&M are in the Greek system and that I rarely hang out with people who aren't. It's not that non-Greeks are bad or anything, it's just that I have more in common with girls who went Greek than with girls who didn't. It sounds awful and shallow, and I promise you that's not the case. It's just the way it is for me.

It depends on who you hang out with. Most GDI's don't know the difference and just lump everyone in Greek Life together. Then there's some GDI's who for whatever reason feel like they know about Greek Life, and they'll judge you if you're not "top tier." Within Greek Life itself, no one honestly cares what tier you are except for a very few select people (mostly freshmen) who you probably won't be spending much time with any way. Every fraternity hangs out with every sorority and girls hang out with girls from other chapters all the time. As long as you're not the bottom of the bottom, you're fine.
