expansion

by: Expansion

A lot of the problems with recruitment could be solved if CPC opened up the possibility for expansion and let more chapters on campus. There were over 1000 PNMs going through recruitment and only 12 chapters with quota just about 67.. Ok State had about 850 girls go through with 12 chapters and quota at about 61. That's not much difference in bids available considering its a 200+ difference in number of PNMs. If CPC would add another chapter it would allow for more bids and probably help the number of girls dropping out.
Also, if CPC actually enforced silence and made it start at the end of spring semester, like most other schools, it would help girls dropping rush bc they got an oral bid at fish camp.

But basically CPC needs to step up their game and run things like schools with strong greek life in the SEC. Chapters are being allowed to do whatever they want without any real consequences. That's one of the reasons why greek life is so insignificant here.

Chapters aren't added until ALL chapters are doing well on campus. The PNMs that dropped didn't drop because there was no room for them in the greek system but because they didn't like the houses they had left.

OU has 11 chapters and over 1000 girls going through recruitment each year.

The problem is with the way sororities are perceived at TAMU not with the houses.

yup, i agree with this. i all of the chapters here are great, if we stopped competing with each other and built each other up, pnms wouldnt be upset if they had certain chapters left

Adding a new chapter would be setting that chapter up for failure. The girls who dropped did so because they only wanted a certain sorority. They wouldn't be willing to join a new chapter either.. they would still drop.

I agree with the posts above. Silence should start at the end of spring and the CPC needs to heavily punish chapters with rush infractions. I don't think fines make any difference because they just pay and move on to do the same type of oral bidding at fish camp and verbal bids during recruitment.

If each house would focus on strengths of the system, it would be a better system for all the girls. I'm not sure adding a chapter will solve the problem of girls dropping out of rush because they are left with one chapter. Join the chapter that wants you and work to improve the overall Greek system at A&M by attending other sororities events and building friendships outside of the house you join.

all the Sororities need to be more supportive of eachother and just nicer to to eachother. The tent talk comes from actives in the houses telling younger girls back home mean and nasty comments about other houses.

All the houses on this campus have something to offer.

And rush infractions should be punished by social probation. Fines are swept under the rug.
