recruitment cuts
by: ?What’s the biggest thing most sororities look at in making the first round cuts? Some of them don’t make sense when you see a lot of really cute girls axed by certain houses that early. Asking for a sad friend....

Rec letters always help but at the end of the day, the current chapter members are the ones who decide. Not your mom’s friend who was in ABC sorority 35 years ago. If you went to a big high school or a cool summer camp or are in Young Life your chances are better than a gorgeous, smart girl who went to podunk high school.

Grades and recs are the two “easiest” things to cut for, especially after the first round when the strongest rushing chapters are cutting 50-70% of the PNM’s.
I’ve been in the room when my chapter has made the invitation lists. We’ve released PNM’s early for those two, but many more, reasons:
-not enough votes. The couple of girls who met you could have really liked you but you need more than 2-3 votes to move to the next round....that’s those “connections” you always hear about
-questionable reputation
-PNM’s with sitting sisters at A&M. It’s fun to steal a sitting sister but it’s rare they don’t pledge with their sister. It’s risky keeping them around after Open House. Same with PNM’s who have close cousins on campus or triple+ legacies to other chapters.
-Legacies we know we won’t bid get released early so they can keep their options open

a lot of sororities have grade requirements where if you don’t meet them, you automatically get cut, even if they loved you
