recruitment

If you are a non-legacy, I thought this is something you need to read. (Copied from a discussion) It explains why you should be thankful your name is on anyone's bid list.
Last year after the 2nd round, there were lots of pretty first-time Greek PNM's (with great recs.) that we wanted to keep on our list but we had to cut them to accommodate the large # legacies we had going through recruitment. Believe me cutting girls isn't easy for the houses either! So anyway, if you aren't a legacy, be extremely grateful you get a bid to any house because the quota for non-legacies is pretty low. This is sample of how we choose which girls to keep and or cut.
First choice: cute, quality legacies with great resumes
second choice: cute, quality sophomore legacies who have great resumes
third choice: quality freshmen legacies with good resumes
fourth choice: quality sophomore legacies with good resumes
fifth choice: cute, quality first time Greek PNMs with great resumes

In other words, you are not too good for any house.

Fantastic message! There are around 1100 PNM's registered and 12 houses. It's obvious that everyone can't receive a bid!

That is simply not true. With RFM every one can receive a bid if they keep an open mind and go through the entire process. If you drop because you don't like your party list or feel like you can only be in a certain house, then yes you will end up without a house.

PNM's quota is based upon the number of girls still attending after round 3 divided by the number of houses. So while you might not get your first or second choice you will get your third. Remember all the houses have something to offer so Go Greek!

I think this girl is trying to scare PNMs. There are exceptions.

Yes, there are exceptions. However it is usually ONLY for pnms who know a TON of women already in a particular house. In general this is a true post. Sorority women cannot get into the details because that would be sharing information that should not be shared to the public (private only to initiated members).

@4 - I actually appreciate the sentiment behind the post. I think last year, A&M had about 600 legacies?

There are SOOOOO many girls participating in recruitment that are crushed when they receive their party lists and find out that they were cut by ABC and/or XYZ. They take it as a personal rejection and 8 times out of 10, the cut was based on legacy #s.

completely disregarded connections, schools, etc. A legacy to the West BFN university chapter who doesn't know anyone won't necessarily be higher up than a girl with good recs and connections who isn't a legacy. Way too simplistic.

Legacies don't mean anything anymore especially when there are 1,000 plus girls going thru rush. The only time it does is if the legacy is a great girl & wants that sorority.

When I was at A&M everyone automatically got a bid if you went through formal recruitment. Has this rule changed?
