frats

by: John

What frats should I look at that are popular here? I’m transferring from out of state and am interested in Greek life. I’m looking for a bigger sized frat.

If you are looking for "big" frats then chapters like SAE, Delt, and Sigma Chi all fit that category. Other good chapters that are more mid sized would be Pike, Phi delt, and Pikapp. All these groups are popular for their own reasons, if you're rushing based on size, then you might be disappointed. Keep an open mind and you'll find the group you like.

Add ATO and that’s a pretty good list

Pike is a similar size to sigma chi and Delt. Much bigger than phi Delt and and pi Kapp.

Actually pike is a good amount smaller than sigma chi and delt, they're bigger than phi delt and pikapp but not by much, Pike still middle sized. But what does the size matter? If size of a chapter mattered to how good they are, then kappa sig would be mid tier, but obviously... lol

Last spring Sigma Chi and Delt had about 160 members while Pike had 150. Pi Kapp and phi Delt both have less than 120.

You must be getting wrong info, there is definitely a bigger difference in numbers between sigchi/delt to Pike. Phi delt has been growing recently and even pikapp too. There's never a good measure on chapter numbers, not like they matter

The most “accurate” numbers you’re going to get are from the fall 2018 report. Just search Aggie greek fall 2018 report on google and you’ll find it. Obviously this doesn’t include additions from spring or subtractions from graduating seniors. In order based on size of the fraternities mentioned:
KA-170
Pike-149
Beta-148
Sigma chi-141
Sae-132
Delt-117
Phi delt-91
Ato-65
Pi kapp-48

These are the official numbers from A&M. Who knows if they are 100% accurate, but it is what it is. Again, size of the chapter doesn’t really matter much, just depends on who you get along with and just because you join a chapter that is big/small doesn’t mean it will stay big/small.
