brief panhellenic history lesson

Pi Phi, Theta, Kappa- nationally large and strong, but the quality varies depending on campus and region. Theta chapters are very weak in the south (except Texas.) PiPhi and Kappa are a mixed bag depending on the campus.
Tri-Delt- very strong in the south but virtually unheard of or weak in many other places
DG - strong in Mississippi and on the west coast, but have some seriously weak houses in other places and surprisingly struggle at some southern schools like UGA and Bama
XO is huge membership wise but will open a chapter anywhere. Kind of like the TKE of sororities.
ADPi and ZTA are usually strong in the south with the exception of TX. ZTA is really large membership wise but probably not as strong as the ones above.
AXO, APhi, GPhi are all large and strong nationally but not so known in the south. They are all over the west, midwest and northeast.
KD- all over and strong in the South but are very small in numbers nationally and weak at most other schools. Most people outside of the south haven't even heard of them.
Phi Mu would fit here
DZ- is large in numbers but weak nationally. The only reason they have the chapters they do is because they absorbed failing sororities at an alarming rate to increase their numbers.
The rest aren't at A&M but are lower nationally

no one cares about sororities nationally. If a girl pledges a sorority at A&M because of a "Name" & that sorority is not good well, I feel sorry for that girl. She will be sad, depressed & miserable for 4 years & wished she joined a sorority where she is a better fit. If a girl wants to join an sorority because it is a strong national chapter then this girl has some serious issues. There are other things in life to worry about than an alumni group that she may or may not care to join later in life. Really, this is ridiculous & I feel sorry for the person who started this conversation.

Except maybe 3 or 4, all of the NPC sororities are large and well connected nationally.

Yeah that's my point. Every single chapter at A&M is a gateway to a huge network of sisters everywhere. No one is going to be impressed or care about what tier you were in during school, especially since that changes from year to year. This whole tier nonsense disappears as an alumna, except for a few mean narrow minded girls who peaked in college and live in the past.

When I saw the first posting, I looked up the number of Alumni chapters at each of the sororities at A and M. They are pretty equal in Texas. I think where you fit in at A and M is important. I do feel most of the sororities are good here. Some role come on trying to make it seem that some are bad that are really not. Some maybe more superficial, but you should be able to tell. You can find a place where you will be happy.

If you plan to live in a large Texas city like Dallas or Houston after graduation, the theta kappa pi phi alums are especially strong. But all A&M chapters have great alum networks no matter where you live, including overseas.
