why does everyone keep pretending fiji is relevant?
by: NOI've never seen a FIJI. Didn't see one girl on my snapchat story/instagram/fb etc that went to their bid day. Never see anyone wearing FIJI shirts around campus. NOT top house. Girls like KA, Delt, SAE, Sigma Chi, Beta and Pike...everyone else is irrelevant.

OP isn't wrong.... but also didnt seem to know they normally hang with just kappa. tridelt, chio. That's just what they do. And from there, it's anyone's personal opinion to call fiji or those sororitys "top" or not. IMO, just bc they bid almost exclusively to location and dont actively mix w other frats/sororitys, they shouldnt be considered "top" in aggie greek life...

You're just new to the game aparently. Fiji only hangs out with Tridelt and kappa. They don't care to throw good parties because they don't care for other sororities girls or gdis to show up. Fiji Tridelt and kappa are very tight nit and don't care to get to know anyone else. So no, they haven't declined. They're the same as always. Their top tier status doesn't come from having good parties it comes from the selectivity they have during rush and because the have a monopoly of the two best sororities at a&m, Tridelt and kappa.

Fiji's status is 100% tied to Kappa and Tri Delt's. The fraternity itself sucks. They just have strong ties with sororities that were historically "top."
But Kappa is pretty widely considered mid tier now and Tri Delt is getting kicked off campus...so where does that leave Fiji?

There are too many suburban kids who go to a&m that the Greek life program gets watered down by people who think they are better than everyone else because they throw totally frattt parties and hang out with extra chicks from dg and zeta. Fiji, kappa, and tridelt are top because of their prestige, connections, and wealth. Why do you think PKT, Fiji, and SAE are top frats at UT? Maybe you don't think Fiji is cool but if you are from a certain zip code or school you wouldn't go anything other than Fiji or AMC. So no one really cares what you think... It doesn't change the way it works

Bragging about how "prestigious" they are due to money or area or connections doesn't change the fact you could actually be a total a-hole or goober or weirdo or creep, but as long as you're from their zip code/highschool and know the same people you can get into their "top" frat/sorority!
Point being: you jjust gave the exact opposite kind of opinion that Aggie Greeks should have...

Lol. Fiji and Kappa/DDD are NOT old money. They might have a few members who are but for the most part they're not, what little old money there is at A&M is very spread out across chapters. There was/is probably more in SAE/SigEp or ZTA even if that's not the stereotype.
Fiji/Kappa/DDD are all new money or mostly barely upper middle class wannabes who think that they're important cause they come from "prestigious" areas like Highland Park/Memorial. Household income there is what? $200,000ish? That's not rich. That's not even close. That's a teacher and a decent lawyer/accountant/engineer living together. Your parents are waist deep in debt to afford a million, two million dollar house? Ha. If daddy works for a living your middle class. Sorry. So many entitled nobodies who want to pretend they're something they're not in those chapters

Most the kids I know in those chapters from those areas come from families that make 200k-800k. That's not old money. It's not even really new money. Heck, I know couples who came out of law school/PPA/TRIP/engineering who make that 5-10 years after graduating. If your 40-50 year old parents make as much at the peak of their careers as 20-somethings can then you're not rich, you're just pretending to be. On the other hand I know a quite a few kids who make millions in passive income alone. And guess what? None of them are in Kappa, or Tri Delt, or FIJI, because they can smell the insecurity and desperate clamor for social status in those chapters from a mile away.
News flash. If your parents are doctors or engineers, you're middle class. Period. If they're partners or directors at some regional bank, accounting firm, or law practice, you're not rich. Not unless it's a Bulge Bracket, or what the industry calls "Big Law" or "Big 4 Accounting." And no one cares if your dad is CEO of some no-name company. They're a dime a dozen. Even if it is a Fortune 100, you're still not "old money."
Those chapters aren't rich or prestigious or upper class. They're mostly just spoiled brats who can't accept the fact that they're extremely average
