thursday is 'cross-cut' day?

by: GoGreek

Seems to me that Thursday is the day a PNM can 'cross-cut' themselves. The whole 'maximize your options and you're guaranteed a bid' is just a marketing ploy. Choose the wrong two houses on Thursday and it's 'thanks for coming out-later'.

Or am I missing something?\n\n\n\n\n

Very sorry to hear!

It's a flawed system--straight up.

Take heart--you go to one of the very best universities in the nation. Plenty of options to get involved and have a great college career.

You were probably just released from every house. Cross cutting doesn't happen during the week and super, super, SUPER rare for it to happen after pref night when bids are being distributed

I did not write the above post.

The system isn't flawed and it's 1000X better than it was in the 1990's when nothing was guaranteed, even after pref.

I attended FOUR houses on Thursday. Two top tier, one mid and one very bottom tier house(why?). And I got dropped by everyone. Doesn't make sense to me.

I maximized my options every day and now I don't have the bid I was "guaranteed".

I'm so very sorry you were released from recruitment. It happens every year and you are far from being the only PNM that this happened to. It stinks not to know the "reason" or have an "answer" and late week cuts sting the most.

Greek Life is great but remember it is a small % of the student body. As school starts you'll be introduced to dozens of other organizations where you can get involved and make friends and enjoy social events. I encourage you to check those out! If you are still wanting to join a sorority, being involved on campus, having a 3.5+ GPA and knowing lots of sorority women can help sophomores who re-rush have a successful experience.

A bid is only guaranteed to pnms who maximize on Pref night. PNM's still have to make it to Pref.

That's not what guaranteed a bid means. Sorry you were dropped. Look into COB after recruitment or you might even get a snap bid. Pretty sure AOII, DZ and ADII will be doing COB right away.

I know for a fact that one of the chapters you named are NOT doing COB.

Greek Administration is meeting with houses to discuss doing away with RFP--lawsuit pending.

Complaining too much handicap applied to high retention rate houses.

Nationals involved.

Watch this thread.
