sig ep

Sig Ep is done for a while. They got 3 years suspension of all activities. Last falls pledges haven't been initiated yet so they are going to jump ship and rush somewhere else. Sad to see them fall apart like this.

So basically a situation like a Penn State and Beta Theta Pi?

@PSU This is literally from the comments on this same page, all you have to do is read. Or actually ask someone whos in greek life.
From Actual SigEp: "Sig Ep was suspended for two years and the charter was revoked by nationals. The suspension stemmed from allegations brought to the IFC board by a girlfriend of one the Fall 16 pledges. She went on to the phone of her then-boyfriend during a fight and sent herself screenshots of proof that there was hazing going on.
The house will be leased to the public until a buyer can pony up the $750,000 to buy the house.

We lost our fraternity because of a girl, yes."

"Actual SigEp" isn't credible at all. The house complex is worth way more than $750,000, so the whole post is probably fake too.

youre not wrong but still, ask anyone who actually knows an aggie sigep and theyll tell you the exact same thing, that basically some girl ratted out the frat for their hazing
...and at PSU its a whole other kind of story: the Beta's negligence for their pledge while getting alcohol hazed led to his death.

you mean to say: "We lost our fraternity because we hazed, yes."

Not "because of a girl."

The brother dying wasn't really related to anything at all. That was just an unfortunate incident that happened to be in the same year

If the victim's parents sue, they'll probably be the ones to get the house. Maybe it could repurposed into a safe-space or leadership retreat or a Christian camp. It'd be up to them to decide.

What "victims"? Do you mean the sigep fall pledges who got hazed? I highly doubt they or their parents would sue

Pretty sure a kid died at the house.

His passing had nothing to do with the SigEp fraternity, except that it happened in their house after their semiformal. Some SigEp told me it was allergic reaction or some kind of accident, but i never heard for sure; but why are you bringing up his death again though ? Have some compassion

Unfortunately, we live in a hyper litigious culture. Anybody can sue anybody. Parents of pledges often sue. Parents of members who die also sue to get answers and then turn their personal tragedies into something positive for the public.

There aren't really any concrete "victims." Unless the pledges want to sue for having been "hazed" (Hazing during pledgeship. Wow! Can you imagine that?)

The guy that passed away was an entirely different situation. Awful as it is, it didnt really have anything to do with Sig Ep. I also heard it was an allergic reaction of some type. It just happened to be that he lived at the house so it got blown up as some sort of "fraternity incident" until the investigation was finished. Which is terrible for the family and everyone who cared about him so I really wish people would stop bringing it up

Who is getting the house complex?

Maybe if you had tried harder with the Balanced Man Program then you wouldn't have lost your charter.

The hazing allegations are just the official reasons why they're gone. Rather than "frat death," it's "frat shut down for hazing." I think the bottom line is as cool of guys they were, no one should be able to continue immediately if a brother dies in their house.

The death is real. The hazing is just an allegation. Nothing was ever proven. There wasn't even a campus process or anything. They were just shut down.

Another frat should get the house. A sorority using it is just a bad idea.

Our dues are hefty as we prepare for our house so money isn't the issue. We don't want to be far from the row, though! We'll see what happens
