sig ep

by:

Sig Ep is done for a while. They got 3 years suspension of all activities. Last falls pledges haven't been initiated yet so they are going to jump ship and rush somewhere else. Sad to see them fall apart like this.

Obviously no girls were hazed. How would that even be possible? What they're saying is that sig ep is in trouble because some girl reported them to the university for hazing. Which I find 100% believable. Probably 2/3rds of situations like that result from a spurned sorority girl making a complaint or a dumb one posting stuff to social media if we're being real about it

how about you go ask a sigep who gets their house and see what they say/how they react to that question

It's too big -- too many beds -- for other frats, but a sorority might have the membership numbers. Girls would hate the location though.

They'll probably hold onto it. They only have to for two years before they're allowed to resume everything. I just can't see anyone else taking it in that time. It's a massive estate in a college town... no one but a fraternity or sorority would have any interest in it. And it's a multimillion dollar property so no fraternity can really afford it. 90% of the fraternities here can't even afford a middle class residential home much less what Sig Ep has. I guess AOPi could grab it but I doubt they'd want a house that far from sorority row

I guess it depends if Sig Ep will really come back and recolonize or not.

You mean the guys from fall16 that didn't get formally initiated yet? Or the potential rushees SigEp would have gotten? I highly doubt they would want to rush again and do pledgeship again - and rushees SigEp would have gotten would probably go to frats like Delt or KA, maybe SAE or Pike

Idk about that. I think they'll do fine if they rerush. At least the freshman. They werent initiated so other fraternity's nationals won't know about it and I think chapters here will be understanding about it

"at least" aka "no less than"

A lot depends on the actually number of bedrooms and then the market for that. Will have to be a sorority or some sort of new religious group with a lot of members and money.

Because there is more than one residential building, different groups could share the total rental and then live in different buildings without mixing gender.

A multi-organizational complex? That would be really interesting, though idk if anyone would go for it. And idk who could afford it. I might be pulling this out of my ass but I remember talking to a guy in the chapter about it and I think he said they spent somewhere in the range of $25,000 a month on the Sig Ep house and I don't think we have a single organization here that could afford that. Besides, if they'll be back in two years is it even for sale?

25k a month is a lot but it's not unreasonable for that place, I could believe it. The property isn't exactly pristine but it's massive. If you laid out the bedrooms sorority style the place would easily house 60 people. The parking lot alone is probably worth more than half the fraternities here lol. Not to mention it has 3 houses on it, a "barn" like Beta's, a massive backyard of several acres...it's basically what would happen if you combined the properties of SAE, Delt, and Beta all into one

by: Yeah

One of my roommates a few years ago was a Sigep and I think he said they spent about 300 grand a year on the house. So if you do the math that's 25 thousand a month. But that probably includes things like insurance, utilities, internet, landscaping, cleaning, maintenance/repairs, upgrades, etc. I doubt the cost of the property itself is more than 18-19 grand a month

All the mid tiers are hawking over this because they think Sigep being gone for two years will open up a spot in the top tier. It won't. There's no one who comes close to replacing them. All this means is we've taken another blow to our Greek system. And if one of our oldest and most well respected fraternities can get taken down by some frivolous and unproven hazing allegations, you know the rest of us arent too far from the chopping block. The university is cracking down and they're targeting Greeks. That's what we should be talking about

The alarming thing about all of this is that Sig ep got in trouble when it really doesn't haze. Pretty much every major fraternity here is known to haze way harder. Sig ep got in trouble a while back and pretty much did away with any real form of pledgeship. Makes you wonder who's next. A&M is coming down hard

by: Be real

They actually did get rid of most hazing/pledgeship. But what most people think of as hazing is a lot different than what the law thinks of as hazing.

And come on. Let's not pretend like the other frats are innocent. Sig Ep was just the one the university chose to make an example of. Probably because they know it was one of our biggest and best. Hopefully the others will pay attention before they all get kicked off too
