If any chapters are below "total" (a number set by Panhellenic that is kind of like the median chapter size), then those chapters are eligible to conduct recruitment in spring. This is called COB, or continuous open bidding, and can happen anytime during the year that a house is below total.

If a house has quite a few bids to give out before hitting total, it will probably good a couple of informal, invitation-only Rush events before voting on which pnms to bid. If a house has only one or two openings, they might just directly offer a bid to a very close friend who knows a lot of actives.

If you're interested, email or go by the Greek Life office as they will share a list of pnms with chapters who are COBing. If the chapter is interested in you, they'll extend an invite. If you have friends in chapters already, let them know you're interested, too.

They all usually take at least a few. ADPI will take a ton.

All houses do not spring rush. None of the top tier will. Tridelt, kappa, chio never have to. Zeta historically has but I don't think they will this semester just because I know they did well during rush. Zeta will if girls drop though, that happens sometimes.

No chapter is immune to spring rushing. Every chapter has girls who graduate early, go inactive due to internships, student teaching, and personal reasons. And yes, all chapters.....even "top tier" have girls who drop. So yes, some spring semesters, they all add at least a few girls.

No. you're wrong. Not all house do it. The top tier doesn't. They simply never need to. In theory they all could but when you're a top tier house it is never necessary. Sorry.

Ha, so you think "top tiers" don't do internships or student teach or go inactive.....all reasons numbers drop. You don't know what you're talking about. Granted, ADPI generally takes the most girls but all chapters have had to spring rush at some point.....and will again.

Some chapters promote/PR for spring rush. Other chapters just ask one or two new girls (that they already know) to join and you will probably never know they added some new spring members.

I think people are talking about two different things on this thread:

1. Sororities extending bids in the spring semester.

2. Sororities having actual recruitment events in the spring semester.

Just because some houses don't have recruitment events does not mean that they aren't giving out a bid or three on the DL. Almost every chapter - even those considered top of the top tier- will extend informal bids outside of formal fall recruitment for all the reasons mentioned above - members graduate early, transfer, or resign.

I'm a senior. My house has never given any bids during spring. We haven't needed to. Don't say they all do because they don't. Sure every chapter has girls that graduate or leave for whatever reason but top houses have enough girls to not need to give bids when this happens.

Dear Senior Top, many mid tier or so called bottom tier have plenty of members. Their bylaws or nationals have recruiting rules that want them to keep every spot full.
