Realistically it'll be more difficult for you if you have zero "ins" and haven't connected with any actives yet. But it's definitely still worth a shot. SAE and Sig Ep actually pick up guys during formal rush who they think are cool/a good fit for the chapter, so it's not like Fiji where they just bid their high school contacts before school even starts. Obviously there's no guarantee you'll get in and you're at a bit of a disadvantage but it's definitely possible if you bring enough to the table

You completely still have a shot. It's going to be harder but it's not impossible by any means. I went into rush blind and I still ended up in one of those two you mentioned. SAE might be a little bit easier than SigEp just cause they give out more bids but the best thing you can do is just talk to the actives.
