rushing fiji
by: FijiIs it too late to be considered for Fiji for Fall 2016? I know they have a lot of rushee's lined up long before convocation and all that, but could I still possibly be considered?

You still have a chance, but not a big one. Especially since they haven't reached out to you already. It's not just a stereotype when people say you pretty much have to be from Highland Park, Alamo Heights, etc. to be a Fiji. I know you say you come from money but that's not even actually what it's about. It's about where you're from (cause that's how they have connections with you/know who you are since they go for people from the same area). There's tons of guys that come from "other" wealthy areas that usually join up with the other strong fraternities here (KA, SigEp, Beta, SAE)
You might as well see what you can do by going to Fiji's formal rush events, but I wouldn't set your sights purely on them. Check out some of the other chapters too. From what you've said I can think of a few other top fraternities that honestly sound like a better fit for you anyway

Let me get this straight. You're all about philanthropy, you like to party, and you're social and well rounded. But you have your heart set on a fraternity that has basically no philanthropy, doesn't party, and is known for being anti-social and narrow. The only thing it sounds like you really have in common is that you're wealthy and want to succeed, which accounts for most guys in any of the top 6 or so fraternities here (except for maybe SAE). And you haven't even met many of the guys or gone to any rush events? Kid, you need to get off this site and meet the people. I think you'll find that if you go into a rush with an open mind you'll have a very different outlook

Okay realistically, do I have a chance if I'm not from one of those three schools...? Not to sound rude but money obviously isn't a problem when you see me, I'm from a relevant but much less urban place than Alamo Heights, Highland Park, or River Oaks, and I can hold a conversation with just about anyone. I'm all about philanthropy, and I want to be a lawyer so I care about school. I love a good party when it's appropriate, and I feel like I'm a really well rounded person. Now, do I have a chance?
