I'll be transferring next fall and plan on rushing, does being a sophomore hurt my chances of getting into a nice sorority?

from the updated 2016 recruitment rules on the tamu cpc website:

VIII. Potential New Member Qualifications and Guidelines
1. A potential new member must attend the maximum number of available Formal Recruitment parties for which she has received and accepted invitations. If a potential new member does not do this, she shall be withdrawn from recruitment.
2. If a potential new member wishes to withdraw from recruitment, she must fill out an official withdrawal form.
3. A primary quota shall be utilized for freshmen who shall be defined as any student who graduated from high school the semester immediately before her first semester at Texas A&M University.
4. A secondary quota shall be utilized for upperclassmen who will be entering into her sophomore year of college. An upperclassman shall be defined as any student who graduated from high school prior to 2016. Any upperclassman who is entering into her junior or senior year will not be configured into this separate quota and will instead be considered as an addition to chapter total.

All of our sororities are "nice." If you enter rush with the attitude that you're too good for half the houses, it's not going to end well for you.

My advice for a sophomore going through rush:
1.Get REALLY good grades your freshman year. 3.5 or higher if you're coming from a community college.
2. Get recs for ALL houses at A&M
3. Maintain relationships with any girls you know who are in chapters at A&M, as well as any who pledge this fall.
4. Get involved at your freshman year school. Volunteer, join a leadership development club, etc. Your freshman resume will be more important than what you did in high school as sophomore.
5. Go to T-Camp next summer.
