best sorority philanthropy event

Chi o raises a ton of money through songfest so even if people don't like it they still participate and chi o wins because they raise 100,000+

Yes DG is emerging but I can't agree with zeta. Theirs is very visible on campus but I don't think it attracts anyone except boys....

Kappa Kolor Run (5k)
Pi Phi Dodge the Arrow (dodgeball tournament)
Theta Rock the Casa (5k)
KD also had some neat events.
I think I would have liked DG's Spring event more if it was earlier in the semester. This year, it was just too late but it could have been more fun.
Songfest is definitely the most visible, but it's kind of it's own category because it's a competition between sororities in the same vein that Stompfest is also a philanthropy event.
I liked SAE's Paddy Murphy event as well.

the 5Ks have over 1,000 people paying and Theta 5K raises over 100,000 and Kappa's Kolor Run raises over 60,000.

If they're both 5Ks, why is Theta's much more heavily attended than Kappa's? Kappa's has paint and stuff so I can see why that would be fun and popular, but if Rock the Casa is just a plain 5k, why is it so popular?
I'm a PNM so I'm just trying to understand. Thanks!

Easy to have high attendance when 300 members and their parents/siblings sign up since its on parents weekend

The issues with Songfest:
1) T-shirt sales are just plain dumb. If the point is to raise money, then a penny war would be much better. T-shirts were sold for $16 apiece, and I can tell you, from having ordered shirts myself, more than half of that is going to CC Creations or whatever company manufactures those shirts. I would be mad too if only half of my money went to the philanthropy and all I'm left with is another sorority's shirt that I won't be wearing.
2) XO wants sororities to buy 300 shirts per sorority in order to get bonus points onto their score. That's about one shirt per girl in each chapter. No sorority girl wants to wear another sorority's shirt. This is simply a way for XO to get others to do their marketing for them.
3) Songfest is a dance variety competition. It should be about dance and philanthropy. Doing some kind of "pay to win" is just taking away the essence of the event.
4) Sororities should be spending their own time and money primarily on their own philanthropies. The expense and practice put into the event is enormous. Each sorority could be spending their resources volunteering at their local philanthropies instead. That would make a much more real and visible impact on our community than buying t-shirts, little of which goes to the actual philanthropy.

AMEN!! This is why some sororities put in the minimum. They volunteer locally at their philanthropies and have their own, large fundraising events to plan. Stomp fest is so much better to participate in. XO needs to change the event to Variety Show or they will have declining participation.

yeah i bought the stupid shirt bc my sorority pressured me into it, but now it literally just sits in my closet. i feel they at least could've made it more generic...
