So is anyone actually going to join alpha sigma phi this fall? How can something that's not even a colony compete with the other IFC chapters. Weird.

Tbh it's not that weird. I mean yeah they're new but everybody has to start somewhere. Maybe they'll fold, maybe they won't, but this is how new chapters come to campus. Look at ΘΧ, they only came around like 2 years ago and are not even IFC but some guys still join them and I think they did songfest. I think even ΤΚΕ recolonized recently and has some guys in it. I'm not saying it's gonna be easy for ΑΣΦ but it's good that Greek life is growing here.

Also if you look at ΑΣΦ's nationals, they've been colonizing everywhere like crazy the past few years.

There have been two new additions to TAMU IFC this year.

Alpha Sigma Phi and Phi Kappa Psi

These are different than Theta Chi and TKE because they are recognized by campus as a part of the legitimate Greek Program here.

The first few years will have many pro's and con's to joining. Don't be discouraged by this, however if you are coming into college wanting a traditional fraternity experience these two fraternities may not be right for you. These fraternities will take a few years to become on par with bottom tier fraternities, but hey- everyone starts somewhere and if you're into becoming the first founding pledge class of these organizations- go for it.

Pretty bad ass to say that you were the Alpha pledge class in my opinion.

Look at Pike and DKE, both relatively new chapters and both of them got a house within a few years of starting up. Both have parties and both hang out with sorority girls.
