greek life
by: alrightOk so I don't understand why some houses aren't considered good. In my opinion, there are some houses that are overlooked way too often by people because of their ranks..like ok I think Theta and KD are freakin awesome. Theta has great events and raise so much money for their philanthropy..they also are so so so sweet.. like I'm in a top house but would've LOVED to be a Theta! such role models. and KD!! also super sweet and so involved in their sisterhood. like why do people say that A&M greek life is bad??? with chapters like these not being considered the best we have to offer (which I honestly disagree with) then why aren't we more proud of what we have going?? just food for thought :)

KD does not get top girls and does not have any campus identity. KD is not strong in Texas and has mostly low tier to mid-low chapters in Texas. Chapter folded at Baylor and no chapter at SMU, TCU, OU which affects girls from Dallas area. The chapter at UT folded, and then came back on campus.
Theta has great philanthropy events and is a top choice for a certain type of girl. Theta is top tier at most Texas schools, but the chapter at A&M is very different than other Theta chapter is type of girls in the chapter.

all the sororities at A&M are really strong in philanthropy fundraising events, (except Pi Phi and ADPi). All have great sisterhoods. All have bible studies. All have social events. All have great chapter gpas above 3.3 (ADPi, DZ, ZTA usually lowest).
So what is the difference? History, tradition, social prestige, socials with fraternities and other sororities, how hard it is to get a bid. Some fraternities won't have events with certain sororities. Some sororities have well-known annual social events with other sororities (KKG,DDD,XO. )Some sororities have well-known philanthropy events (XO-Songfest, Theta 5K, Kappa Kolor). Some sororities have been in Texas long time (Pi Phi, KKG, XO, DDD, ZTA) and were first on campus at UT, SMU, Tech, TCU so they have more history, tradition, legacies, and alum support.

Every PNM needs to ask themselves if they truly want to be Greek at A&M or not. If they want to be Greek, they will see that all 12 (almost 13) houses at A&M are all wonderful. Each house has mixers, date parties, philanthropy events, study groups, coffee/froyo breaks, national sisterhood, strong alumni, 24/7 people to love, and Aggie Spirit. Absolutely true.

OP is asking why houses are overlooked at A&M when they are realistically good houses here, as in philanthropy and sisterhood. In my opinion, it should not matter how many bigger schools in your home state have those chapters. It should be about whether or not you feel at home with that chapter at your campus. KD at A&M is going to be different than KD somewhere else, but that doesn't mean someone should not pledge KD.
It all comes down to where you feel best. Going in, I did it think I would have ended up where I did. But I absolutely love my house, my sisters and my sorority. I hope all girls can come in ready to meet some really awesome Aggie women!!
