alpha phi
by: heylooking to join APhi and am looking at their website, FB, etc. How long have they been at LSU? They look fantastic but GR shows them to be mid/bottom tier. I have a hard time believing that. They are super just about everywhere...what's up at LSU w APhi?

I was in APhi for about a year and a half before I dropped for personal reasons.
To be real with ya, they are still very new. As you can imagine, leaving 260 college girls in charge or building an entire chapter was tough. They struggle with organization, communication, and enforcement (specifically with policies and standards.) However, with time these things will level out. Other sororities will diss them because of these issues, but to be fair to Alpha Phi, these are well established institutions as opposed to a brand new chapter. It is completely unrealistic to expect perfection under those circumstances.
I never considered myself to be the sorority type, in fact I shunned it for years, but honestly my sisters made me feel so welcome. They're a very real, and I love that because I was never willing to sacrifice my identity to fit in and they didn't ask me to. If you join, I promise you won't regret the memories and friendships you make there.

Alpha Phi recolonized recently. I forget the exact number, but approximately 10 sororities left LSU in the 70s and 80s, starting with Alpha Chi Omega. Aphi and ADPi have/are returning. (The others have not.) Both groups have extremely strong Nationals. Aphi has strong National support and many of the local alums are extremely supportive too. I'm dusting off my red dress for the gala in January. Don't listen to this site's constant rankings and drama. Do make sure you get recs for as many houses as possible. Meet girls from different houses with an open mind and you will find your group. Houses may have different atmospheres, which often changes from campus to campus. Every house has great girls and every house has girls you won't click with. There are no bad houses at LSU, just different houses. Go through rush prepared and with an open mind and you will have a blast finding the best mutual fit.
