by: CuriousFrat guys, girls, and non-Greeks, how do you think theta is doing this year? Are they improving or declining? Do you think they'll ever move up from being bottom tier for so long?

How can you say that? Are you some kind of sorority expert? Do you even attend LSU? Alpha Phi has only been on campus for a few years. They seem sweet and have very beautiful girls.

I'd say that Theta has improved the most out of all of the sororities since I was a freshman (now a senior). My fraternity and many others wouldn't even consider having an exchange with them 4 years ago but they were our funnest exchange last year. A lot of guys in my frat love thetas and no longer associate them with the old stereotypes. Sure there will be people who refuse to accept the fact that theta now has quality girls, but I'd say overall most people down the row (both guys and girls) are noticing that theta is getting better. PHC has finally moved on from the scandal that happened with theta a few years back and they're now allowed to cut girls during recruitment. Theta definitely used this to their advantage
Maybe they will be bottom tier for a while longer, but they are no longer sorority we refuse to associate with.

There are TONS of normal girls in theta; in fact, there are def less crazies there than in similarly ranked groups.
That being said, half of theta are absolute gems who could have easily been in a mid to upper-mid tier sorority but got screwed by the new bid-matching system, while the other 1/2 are leftover losers (maybe less than half now with new pledge class). No one really chooses theta, but once they get past bid day the majority of them couldn't be happier & could care less about their rank...

What is the new bid-matching system? A lot of my friends ended up in bottom tier (your rankings) houses, when they could've easily been in a mid/top tier sorority. What is PHC doing?

^ PHC is giving more weight to what the sorority wants after pref and have been doing it since APhi came along last year. I think it's pretty messed up. They'll prob have this deleted like another post from a few months ago

I am a Theta pledge and I DID choose Theta. I attended all 3 of my pref parties, other two houses mid/upper mid (your rankings not mine) but Theta was my 1st choice. There are several girls that I have met in my pledge class that chose Theta as well. Time to start rethinking old stereotypes.

I completely agree. I also ranked Theta above Phi Mu and DZ (the three houses I preffed). Don't get me wrong, some of our girls are weird AF but we have so many genuine, loving girls in our sorority that I can't imagine being anywhere else. Everyone from my town went Phi Mu, and I have a lot of friends in DZ, and from what they've told me about their chapters has made me so happy about the decision I made last year. The stereotypes are untrue; this "tier" system is stupid. ALL sororities at LSU are good. All of them make cuts during recruitment, and receiving a bid from ANY sorority is a privilege.

Theta is full of sweet, genuine, and cute girls who are proud to be Greek and you're going to sit here and bash them in favor of a sorority that doesn't exist yet? I love my theta friends and they have better sisterhood than my own "top tier" sorority ever has. People like you give Greek life a bad name and I'm so tired of these kinds of comments about the AMAZING sororities we have at LSU.

I went to theta's grub Friday and it was the funnest sorority event I've been to this semester. There is a prevalent divide between the normal and the weird girls, which in my opinion is the reason they're getting better. The last two pledge classes are fine and I hope theta keeps improving.
They have become my (as well as many of my brothers') favorite sorority.
