sorority rush fall 2015

by: LPLG

Which of the sororities give bids to sophomores? And is it absolutely necessary to have two letters of recommendation for a sorority you want to get into?

You need two recs to every sorority. Are you a transfer? Did you go through recruitment at LSU as a freshman and not get a bid or drop?

I'm not a transfer, I was just going through a lot last year, which is why I did not rush. If I still cant't find any for a sorority, what should I do?

Tigers- to answer your question if you have gone through recruitment at LSU before and were cut, unless it was for grades alone then you will not be reconsidered by the sororities that released you. That is the difference in being a transfer and being a sophomore that has gone through as once already as a freshman.

I know that Pi Phi and ZTA had a number of sophomores. Theta had around 3, and the upper tier sororities had a few, but are very selective.

Going through rush as a sophomore is okay. Just get your recs ready. If you don't have them call your hometown Panhellenic and ask. Being a sophomore isn't a big deal.

Being a sophomore at LSU is a big deal. Please don't let this girl think her chances are remotely equal to that of a freshman pnm with recs , strong gpa and resume. It is just not the same. Something like 94%of freshman pnm are extended bid and around 64% for sophomores.

Mom, aunts sisters, teachers, church congregation ask around and let them know you need recs. Spread the word to friends on Facebook call local alumnae chapters for each sorority etc. They don't have to know you personally....you will need two good pics of yourself, resume to send to the rec. writers and they will send that along with their rec. forms so do them electronically.

I think AOPi is colonizing fall'16 and will want girls from every year. I've heard Theta and Alpha Pi take some sophomores any maybe others too, but please understand that there is no upperclass quota and Freshman will be preferred at a competitive school like LSU. Have you made a lot of Greek friends? This can help. let them know you are going through recruitment . They might be a good source for recs. from girls that have graduated recently. Good Luck.

you don't need two for all of them, some of them you don't even need one.

That simply is not true! Please don't give out incorrect information to this girl.

I actually went through rush as a junior and got a great sorority. Only two houses dropped me. They probably dropped me because I was a junior but maybe not. Don't know. Go through rush. Keep an open mind. Theta isn't a good house here, but they are good on the west coast and new england. Or join ADPi if you don't get a bid during regular rush. I say try it

Go through rush. Most sophomores get a bid. You might have to join one of the "lower tier " groups, but it is better than nothing.
