Is it just me or is theta's pledge class this year out of place? I've met a lot of hot freshman this year and couldn't believe when some of them told me they went theta.
How did this happen? Maybe theta is putting on a good show for rush and these girls are actually choosing them. Theta will probably always be bottom tier at LSU, but hopefully they continue improving. All of you "top tier" sororities need to watch who you cut this fall.

It's not just you... Something weird happened with the bids this year. It almost seems like the bottom sororities were "given" their top 10 (at least the girls who still had them around for pref) whether the girl liked it or not. I'm not the only person who's noticed this... I have a suspicion that panhellenic was in on some sort of strategy to boost the lower sororities by altering the bid matching process. The cards definitely didn't fall the way they used to on bid day

One of my best friends pref'd with a Top tier, a mid tier, and theta... got theta and was devastated at first b/c she was basically a shoe-in for the mid-tier-- the alums who wrote her recs were shocked and so was she. She's come to terms with it now, but if the above really is true, how unfair. Oh btw, theta later told her she was in their top 10 - it was obvious at that point that something funny was going on

Funny, because this is exactly what happened to me. I pref'd KD, phi mu, and theta and got Theta. I've accepted the fact that I'm a theta but it took me forever.
I feel bad for girls going through rush this year, because "trusting the system" is a load of crap, and it seems that PHC will try to pull this again

I'm not sure how I feel about this post. I'm one of the girls that picked theta over the two middle tier sororities I had on pref night because it's where I felt like I was home. The only bad thing about being in theta in my opinion is how some of the upper tier frats act like I'm nothing because of the letters on my chest even if they think I'm prettier than the chi o standing next to me. I really hope that people start to really evaluate the sororities instead of just automatically throwing us at the bottom because that's where we've always been. It would be nice to be treated like an equal on the row

Now you know how guys in lower fraternities feel talking to upper tier sorority girls even if they are better looking than the KA next to them. Everything unfortunately is perception

They have a solid number of pretty girls and great sisterhood and always seem to be having fun. I've never understood all the hate either

Invitations and bids work? Do you remember those rankings you did at the end of each round? When you ranked "x" amount of sororities #1 and the remainder first, second, third, etc.? The sororities are also doing that. Do you remember ranking the sororities first, second, and third after prefs.? The sororities are also ranking you and depending on several factors you will end up on their first or second bid list. If you went to Phi Mu, KKG, and Theta and got Theta, it is because Theta placed you higher on their bid list then the other two sororities did. Your first and second choices matched to quota before they got to you on their lists. It was no great conspiracy. Panhellenic always tries to give the PNM her first choice, but if your name is not on your 1st choice's bid list the computer will then try to match you to your 2nd choice. If your name is not within #2's quota range, you get matched to your 3rd choice.Your first and second choices just did not place your name within the quota range. They liked you, and your name did appear somewhere on their bid list' but they did not like you enough to place you high.

THIS IS IMPORTANT
Most people don't really understand how the house matching works and end up dropping or being all butthurt when they don't get the house they set their heart on.
Keep an open mind and make the most of your time at LSU in whatever house you join because that house chose you and wanted you. All of the sororities do a competitive rush, even theta so it is an honor to be chosen.
If there really truly is nowhere else you can be happy besides a certain house you can suicide but that means you have a chance to go home bidless

You mentioned if theta did a good rush or not so I was giving my opinion. People like you are why the Greek system has a bad rep.

Now that you point it out, I wouldn't put it past PHC to do this. A few of my friends specifically had sororities like KD, Chi O, and DZ left on the last day with just theta, and most of them ended up getting a bid from theta. I'm not in theta, so I don't know how the leadership and social aspects have changed, but I certainly hope they continue improving.
