frat expansion at lsu?

by: N

IFC Twitter shows they are working on expanding fraternities at LSU. Any ideas who may be considered and what the timing is for this?

SAE and ATO. SAE still has their house next to Sigma Nu and Acacia. ATO has the empty lot next to TKE. SAE would most likely be back in the fall of 2015. No clue about ATO

I found online that the 3 fraternities being considered for expansion at LSU are Alpha Tau Omega, Beta Theta Pi & Delta Tau Delta. Who is considered the front-runner of these 3? Are they planning a Fall 2015 colonization? I'm surprised Sigma Alpha Epsilon wasn't on this list. Are they still considered a part of LSU fraternities since they were open to return December 2014 & therefore do not have to go through this expansion consideration? Any information on whether SAE would return to LSU in Fall 2015? Thanks for your thoughts.

This is like the 3rd time SAE has been kicked off and come back on

SAE alone accounted for like half of the Greek life related deaths in the last 15 years. They were hemorrhaging chapters and lawsuit money, and LSU is a high risk chapter for them traditionally.

Well since SAE has do away with pledging nationally this chapter might be pretty safe for them.

on if they actually follow it. 90% of Sig Ep's chapters are Balanced Man, which basically does away with pledgeship. Still far less than 90% actually follow it. None of SAE's big chapters in the South like Alabama, Georgia, or Texas have done away with pledgeship. Lambda Chi and Pi Kapp are both supposed to have "associate memberships" and strict zero hazing policies, but you can bet most of their decent chapters don't abide by this.
