DKE was founded in 1844 at Yale college. The chapter here (Zeta Zeta) was originally founded at centenary college. However, the chapter closed due to all of it's members enlisting to fight in the civil war. The friars club (A local LSU secret society) petitioned DKE to reopen the Zeta Zeta chapter at LSU for 15 years, they were finally given the approval in 1923. The house was constructed in 1933 and became the first fraternity house that was built on it's own land space. Other than it's history, DKE has become legendary due to their 80s animal house social scene. Present day though, they only have around 50 members and their grades are not that great. It's primarily New Orleans kids with a few exceptions of course. DKEs do their own thing and don't really care what they do or what people think about them. They're nice guys, crazy but nice.
