SORORITIES (oos)

Hi I’m a sophomore (from Florida) in a sorority (mid tier but I’m very happy with it) and I only rushed because my parents offered to pay for it and I genuinely said to myself “why tf not”. After being at LSU for a year now I can say that there is no bad sorority on campus. There are definitely some that people BELIEVE to be “worse” or “better”, but in reality they’re all active and involved on campus in different ways and you WILL find your place if you trust the process and don’t go into rush just thinking you want a top house. I kinda did that last year when I rushed and ended up dropping Zeta because of this stupid website telling me they were bottom tier. And I regret it because some of my best friends are Zetas (they’re so fun and SO NICE) and that isn’t to say I’m not also very happy with the house I ended up choosing because I AM!

Anyways this message was directed to the girls that are like me and entering rush completely not knowing anything. My biggest piece of advice is to trust your gut and the conversations you have with active members. Don’t let your friends or roommates, or even just girls that walk past you otw to the row opinions change your mind on a house that you love. Don’t get discouraged if a “top house” drops you first round just because you aren’t from Louisiana or because you don’t personally know someone in the sorority, there will be a better fit for you anyways!❤️ And if you’re feeling like you might not want to go through with rush at all or don’t see the point I definitely recommend just going to day one and giving it a shot and if you decide it’s not for you there’s no shame in backing out.

This post wasn’t meant to discourage anyone or talk down on any sorority. Greeklife in itself already gets enough hate these days so don’t waste your time hating on a fellow student just because they’re affiliated with a different sorority than you!
