Recommendation letters for Rush

For a legacy, would it mean more to have the rec letter come from mom or would that come off as too biased? I plan to get recommendations for all the houses, but obviously the one my mom was in I have more contacts as she is still close with a lot of her sorority sisters.

It doesn’t really matter who the letter of rec is from as long as you have it. Obviously like if your mom’s friends were in any position of power try and have them write one but other than that it doesnt mattwr

If you think you’d really like the house then have her write it. But you’ll get cut from a lot of other houses if you do bc they’ll assume that’s the house you’re going

FYI, many houses cut legacies, especially Chi O. They do take some but not most legacies.

I realize that I might still get cut as a legacy, but I just wasn't sure if my mom should be the one that writes the letter. Some of the houses are only accepting one rec letter.

You’re not supposed to get a letter of recommendation from a close family member (sisters, aunt). Especially not your mom. A cousin is fine but not your mom
