"Deputies said she had a blood-alcohol level of .319, nearly four times the legal limit to drive and enough to give someone alcohol poisoning and render them unconscious."

Where were Madi’s Alpha Phi sorority sisters who left without her? Sisters, in the loosest of loose definitions. Each girl with her that night who left without her should be ashamed of themselves. The rule is we come as a group AND we leave as a group. Girls, YOU MUST WATCH OUT FOR EACH OTHER, as well as (obviously) yourselves! Please dont ever abandon a sister while you’re out. Horrible things DO happen, and the combination of youth and alcohol makes you feel invincible. Sadly, youre not. Please please be safe and protect yourselves and each other.

What’s @sad is apparently the media and other trolls like @tigers and @shame shame shame have found LSU GR because they are looking for a sound byte bc they are tired of stalking students on campus and getting nothing. Don’t give them one. I don’t know if Madison was with her APhi sisters that night, friends from other houses down the row - lots of us have friends in other houses, or non-Greeks. She may have gone alone - the semester hadn’t even started. I wasn’t there so I don’t know. Were any of you trolls? No. What happened to her was a tragedy and people are hurting. I’m not APhi but can see they are and I hate it for them. To blame an entire house or say her sisters don’t care is callous and wrong. It really doesn’t matter who she was with as the ONLY ones to blame are the animals that have been charged and arrested. Period. Move along.

if a house any house helps underage sisters get fakes and promotes a toxic culture of underage binge drinking they ought to be held accountable if underage drunk sisters are harmed or victimized

Because her Alpha Phi friends are narcissistic self-absorbed messy phonies who did not actually care about her. That is the bottom line. There is genuine sisterhood on this campus, there are safe chapters who care about protecting underage sisters. Clearly not at Alpha Phi.

I can't stop thinking about this poor girl and her family. Her death is so sad and so tragic and SO preventable. There are so many times in the timeline of this story that this could have been prevented with a roadblock or two that it makes my head spin.
Instead of pointing fingers and throwing blame, use your voice to let Madi's death be a valuable lesson to others. Girls should NEVER be out alone. Always have someone with you, especially when you are drinking. This could have happened to anyone and I can guarantee that parts of this story have happened to plenty...we just don't hear about it because this story happened to have such a tragic ending. STICK TOGETHER. Baton Rouge is a dangerous place and LSU needs to provide a safer place for students to hang out. Tigerland is in a horrible location.

further to the above facts, according to the law as written, someone with a BAC that high cannot consent to anything. Period. that’s what the prosecution is going to try to get the jury to understand. Regardless of how anyone feels about that video, the law indicates guilt. And the defense lawyer knows that so he’s trying to cause confusion by releasing that video to the media.
As others have stated, those individuals could have made any other choice than the one they did which was to engage with a person who couldn’t consent to anything in her state, which is illegal. That woman is not on trial, they are.
